Huertgen Forest – Huertgenwald
Volker Lossner
Volker Lossner, born in 1960, is a retired captain in the German Army. He will be happy to accompany you on the battlefields at the Huertgen Forest and to bring you closer to the events of the battles which occurred there between September 1944 and February 1945. Volker lives in Schmidt/Kommerscheidt (at the end of the Kall Trail) and is not only familiar with this battle because of his work in military history training for the German army, but also because of the interesting story of his family and the fate of an American soldier from Texas.
Volker is one of the best in the field. He is not only very knowledgeable and one of the kindest people on the planet. He has the gift to find the perfect balance in talking tactics, sharing first hand accounts from the vets (both sides) and personal insights. That is why you will learn so much from him.
Volker’s tours are very detailed and cover all the sites at the Huertgen Forest (Height 554, Kall Trail, Wehebach Valley, Hill 400, and many more…). All tours are customized. Volker guides tours in English and German.
